The Perfect One
I have looked for you in all the others
the arch of your brow
the curve of your cheek
in churches, temples and bars
I have reached for you
in the gentle touch of a new love
the indifferent caress of a course lover
both leaving me unimpressed and lonely
But there, oh, there
in the solitude of my stillness
in that moment
there, I felt the presence of the Perfect One
there, the flutter of the unnameable source of perfect love.
One must become perfectly still
to know the perfect Lover.
That One who can only be known
by she who has trained her ear to hear the song;
She who has harnessed all her faculties
and made ready the arrival
of Love in her house.
