Rehearsal’s have been in full swing

…and we are getting really excited to bring a new twist to the songs on the the album.  With a pared down band (myself, Vito, and MB Gordy), the songs have a very different feel and I think you all are really going to enjoy it.

McCabes is one of those classic LA venues for acoustic music, where I’m pleased to have been asked to open for Plainsong, a British country rock/folk rock band, formed in early 1972 by Ian (later Iain) Matthews, formerly of Fairport Convention and Andy Roberts, previously of The Liverpool Scene.

This is my first time performing there and as you know first impressions are very important.

So, here’s my ask:
Come on out on Sunday night and help fill the house so we get asked back, I’m certain you won’t be disappointed!

I am excited to let you know that Godin Guitars have partnered with me to give away one of their beautiful Art & Lutherie line guitars.
We are still working out all the final details, but be on the lookout in the next few days for an email about how you can win!

April 22, 2017 (Earth Day)
Evening Concert

$20.00 in advance  –   $25.00 at the door
(with Vito Gregoli and MB Gordy)

…and I’m very excited to let you know we have a beautiful new location
Rising Lotus Yoga Studios
Sherman Oaks

A spacious and beautiful room where we can gather in sacred circle to lift our voices in song reconnecting to the fifth chakra, and aligning with our true voice.
Easy to get to and plenty of parking!

We will gather to celebrate the release of the album and in support of an organization near and dear to my heart…

This beautiful organization has been providing quality mental health and substance abuse treatment in Southern California since 1942, with 11 centers throughout Los Angeles and Orange counties, offering a variety of services to adults, seniors, families, children, military families where stigma or poverty might limit access, including:
  • crisis counseling
  • substance abuse and prevention
  • suicide crisis line
  • trauma counseling
  • school programs in under-priviliged areas
  • and much more.
I have personally benefited from this organization at one of the darkest times of my life.
My life was quite literally saved.
I am taking this opportunity to give back.

“Kimberly Haynes has made something here that is truly wonderful in all aspects of its creation, one can create a beautiful album, but it’s even more special when that creation is born from the passion of a heart felt truth. Vito Gregoli has done a supreme job in producing this release and using the talents of Tina Malia, Christo Pellani, Peter Kater, Jesus Florido and Byron Metcalf was a stoke of utter genius, if this album isn’t a massive global hit, there is no justice in the music business anymore, this is an album that everyone should have.”  ~~ Steve Sheppard, One World Music

“Kimberly’s music harmoniously weaves inspirational heart-felt lyrics into a rich tapestry of world instruments to create poetic reflections of her inner landscape.
The spectrum of her pure and passionate vocal performance evokes both the tenderness of a mother’s touch and the ancient feminine power of a tribal priestess singing her truth”. ~Natascha Wilczek

“Haynes’ gentle, soothing, wistful, and haunting voice reaches resplendent passions…At every point, sincerity rings through, and the two constituents, the vocal and instrumental elements, serve as bolsters to each other in the subtlest but most suffused of ways…not only are her deliveries satiny and mellifluous but this woman boasts excellent compositional skills as well, the lion’s share of the cuts.”
– Veritus Vampirus – The Rude-imentary Truth

The band: Vito Gregoli (co-producer/musical director); Christo Pellani (percussion); Larry Steen (bass); Nichol Chase (vocals); Joanne Lazzaro (flutes); Jesus Florido (violin); Benjamin Malcolm (Didjeridu); Michel Tyabji (percussion); and other guest artists you won’t want to miss.

Save the Date

Uncategorized     no comments

Hi everyone!
Another month has passed in record speed!

Much has happened, as usual!

I will be singing June 18 at Bhakti Yoga Shala to ring in the Summer Solstice with Neil Martin and Kalakar!
Please come out and play 🙂

Summer Solstice at BYS in Santa Monica June 18, 2016

On to album news!
Wanting it to be as perfect a reflection of my vision as possible, I decided to push from a spring release to a summer release.  This helped me breathe and stop panicking.
The street release date is AUGUST 19!  We have a date folks 🙂

With that decision things loosened up and everything fell perfectly into place, along with some great surprises too!

As I mentioned before, we already have both physical and digital distribution, which in itself is awesome!
We also now have a radio promotion scheduled for July/August!
I’m now working with an awesome creative marketing strategist, Suzanne Doucet, who is helping direct this ship of dreams.  She has mad skills (developed over 30 years in the business) and also really believes in the project.

I FINALLY found the right graphic artist to design the album!
Phew!  (Thanks to John and Joni for totally hooking me up).

We have final mixes on all but the last two tunes!!!  THIS IS BIG!
George the genius, along with Vito, made it seem effortless.
Thanks you guys!  Really sounds awesome!

So, with only about 15 days left to finalize all the music before it “goes to print” and is digitally released to all of you, we are listening, listening…. and listening some more to be sure we have done everything we can to make it amazing 🙂
Oh, and while also still creating and finishing up the final two tracks!!!! Yikes!
Nothing like a deadline!!

In any case, you can expect your digital copies by the end of June!
Those of you expecting physical CD’s, I should have them on their way to you in July.

In other exciting album news: 15 copies of a pre-release version of the album (minus the final two songs I’m currently finishing up) is off to France!  Suzanne Doucet is hand carrying them into MIDEM (billed as the leading international business event for the music ecosystem) for international distribution!  Woo-hoo!

Here the magic elves helped me package the materials for shipping 🙂

Meantime, here’s a little clip from the Sound Dome at ShaktFest this year. I was thrilled to have been invited to perform at my first festival in both the Sound Dome and also on the main stage!  AND also secured an invitation for BhaktiFest in September.  Summer in the desert….. fun…..  so for those of you willing to brave the furnace, I will have reduced price tickets available

Summer is right around the corner folks!  Happy Summer Solstice 🙂

Thank you so much for being a part of this defining chapter of my book of life!
Can’t wait to share the finished product 🙂

Happy Summer Solstice everyone!

Spring is Here!

Uncategorized     no comments

I love the feel of Spring!

Seeing Mother Nature bursting forth with her finest colors and sweetest fragrences is truly inspiring!

Last week at the Bhakti Yoga Shala in Santa Monica, Neil Martin invited me to join a group of amazing musicians to welcome in the Spring Equinox and also celebrate the birthday of on of our favorite percussionists ever, Christo Pellani.

We all had such a blast! Neil Martin, Amita Stark, Daniel Stewart, Christo Pellani, Eddie Young, Vito Gregoli, Jesus Florido, Shervin Boloorian, Daniel Tyler Pohnke

Since ‘AWAKEN ME’ was released last Monday, we already have almost 600 listens!  Warms my heart to know that my mission of music as medicine is being received in the world 🙂

I’m getting pretty excited about the big release of the whole album coming up in just a few months.

Meanwhile ~~ back in the studio/office, things are starting to get busier in the planning and strategizing stages for the release.

talks with photographers and graphic artists for the cover art, and the team of people who will steward the album out into the world with me.

Its a bit intimidating, so I’m just putting one foot in front of the other and trusting the unfolding.

On the creative side, Vito and I continue to fine tune and put finishing touches on the existing songs.

Next week we will jump into the final two tracks that still need birthing in the studio 🙂

I got to sing ‘Awaken Me’ live for the first time, too!  And with such a great band!

On a personal note,

Spring break for the Haynes boys has been a blast with a different playdate everyday!

they have an abundance of buddies.

It makes me feel so good to see them enjoying their young lives with such abandon.  But, honestly?  I’m ready for them to go back to school!  LOL!!

Until the next time….

enjoy the flowers and the beautiful Spring lightness of being 🙂
